EasyJet resumes June 15 flights with additional measures

EasyJet is resuming a limited number of flights starting Monday, June 15. For now, it involves flights from 22 European airports. The airline announced this on Thursday.

Flights will again be operated from UK airports London Gatwick, Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Belfast, and Isle of Man. In addition, flights resume in France from Nice, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon and Lille and from Geneva in Switzerland, Lisbon in Portugal and Barcelona in Spain.

Initially, flights take place mainly on domestic routes and some international routes. The airline expects to intensify the flight schedule as customer demand continues to grow and measures are relaxed. During the lockdown, easyJet’s fleet was kept on standby so that the airline could quickly resume flights at the appropriate time.

A new set of additional measures is being introduced to ensure the health and well-being of both passengers and staff on board. This includes additional cleaning and disinfection of aircraft and the mandatory wearing of mouth masks for both ground and cabin crew and passengers. Also, no food is served on the short-haul flights.

‘I am delighted that we will be able to resume some flights in mid-June. These are small and carefully planned steps that will allow us to resume a small portion of our flights. ‘We will continue to closely monitor the situation across Europe so that as more restrictions are lifted, we can adjust the flight schedule as efficiently as possible to meet the needs of our passengers,’ said Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyJet.

‘Safety and the well-being of our passengers and crew remains our top priority. Therefore, we also implement a number of measures that improve safety during each part of the journey. From disinfecting the aircraft, to requiring passengers and staff to wear mouth masks. These measures will remain in place for as long as necessary, allowing both passengers and crew to fly safely while the world recovers from the effects of the corona crisis.’

EasyJet has published a video explaining the new passenger welfare measures.
