IBTM trend report: market is growing worldwide

IBTM World Trends Watch report unveiled at IBTM World in Barcelona. An in-depth country-by-country analysis points to growth opportunities in South Africa with high hopes for new leader Cyril Ramaphosa and the potential benefits of North Africa’s first high-speed rail link. In Asia Pacific, the report points to China’s trade dispute with the U.S. as particularly important, while Australia is looking to become an increasingly strong market.

The market in Europe remains positive, with mature markets requiring strengthened commitment and innovation. And despite ongoing Brexit negotiations that sow uncertainty about how the final deal will play out for airlines, visas and border control, London’s popularity as a destination has not waned.

Latin America appears to be growing, while North America, although affected by trade problems with certain countries, can also look positively to the future. And the Middle East, facing continued volatility in the oil market, is turning to business and leisure tourism to boost their economies, leading to greater growth in the regional meetings and events economy.
