Qatar Airways: 8.6 percent profit margin for fiscal year 2016

Qatar Airways Group presents its figures for the 2016 fiscal year. The group achieved an operating profit of three billion Qatari rial – almost tripling from the 1.1 billion in fiscal 2015.

This represents an operating profit margin of 8.6 percent, an improvement of almost six percentage points over the previous year. Total sales amounted to QAR 35.6 billion. The company posted a net profit of QAR 1.6 billion, resulting in a net profit margin of 4.5 percent. In fiscal 2015, net profit was QAR 374 million, a net profit margin of 1.1 percent.

Expansion
The airline is expanding its network with 17 new destinations in 2016/2017. Already operational are the destinations Adelaide, Atlanta, Marrakech and Yerevan. Destinations to come: Auckland, Chiang Mai, Douala (Cameroon) Helsinki, Krabi (Thailand), Libreville (Gabon), Lusaka (Zambia), Nice, Pisa, Sarajevo, Seychelles, Skopje (Macedonia) and the Namibian Windhoek.
