Swiss Mice on the rise

The number of requests for group and incentive travel from Switzerland Tourism is on the rise again. ‘We already have more requests than last year at this time,’ says Lisette van Dolderen, responsible for the Mice segment (groups and incentives) at the Swiss Tourist Office in Amsterdam.

Like tourism to Switzerland, group and incentive travel suffered from the high exchange rate of the Swiss franc over the past two years. Meanwhile, the franc has become cheaper again, which has a favorable effect on Switzerland’s price level against the euro. ‘We continue to focus on quality and look for cooperation with partners who can sell that well.’

Van Dolderen was again represented with a Dutch team at the twelfth edition of the Meeting Trophy in Switzerland last weekend. The Meeting Trophy is a study trip with a high competition content, designed to promote Switzerland as a destination for congresses, events and group travel.
The participating teams were from countries that are also the most important markets for the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau. In addition to the Netherlands, they are Belgium, Germany, France, Great Britain, Russia, Scandinavia and North America. In three days, the teams explored the region of Geneva, Lausanne and Verbier. The twelfth edition was won by Belgium. The Netherlands finished in fourth place, just like last year.
