Miek Egberts tragically died in a major car accident in her hometown of Monaco. The highly recognized and well-known Dutch mice professional had been working in the industry for over 25 years, and a familiar face at trade shows including DMCs in Italy and Monte Carlp. She was also a very passionate SITE member and director. The trade association announced her death.
With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality and MICE industry, and more than 1,000 unique incentive travel programs, luxury leisure travel, weddings, product launches, conferences, Miek has been a leading planners of experiential events. Born in 1968, she has lived since childhood in the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, the South of France, the French Riviera and the Principality of Monaco. Miek studied Business & Administration at the Hoge Hotelschool Maastricht in the Netherlands with a specialization in Tourism and Marketing.
She has an all round experience in the hospitality and events industry as she has worked for several leading luxury hotels in the Netherlands, Monaco and Italy, as well as for a privately owned independent DMC leader in the Italian market, and a DMC led in Monaco for one of the largest international destination management companies in the world.
