Hotel Okura in Amsterdam has a new general manager. Michiel Roelfsema (35) succeeded Emmy Stoel in this position as of May 17.
Michiel Roelfsema first became acquainted with Hotel Okura Amsterdam as an intern in 2002. In 2008, he returned to the hotel to work as assistant director of food & beverage. During that time, he was a board member of the Food & Beverage Management Association. He was then appointed rooms division director in 2012. In 2016, he also became deputy general manager.
In addition to his work at Hotel Okura, Roelfsema is an active member of the Hotel Finance & Technology Professionals (HFTP) and a regular panelist at Hotel Industry Technology Exposition Conference (HITEC).
‘I am extremely pleased with this move,’ says Roelfsema. This gives me a lot of confidence and energy to work with our loyal team to further expand the course set by my predecessor and thus remain the most unique and complete five-star superior hotel in the Netherlands. The coming years are very promising. We are implementing a digital transformation, will continue to renovate our executive rooms and suites and in 2021 we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hotel Okura Amsterdam.’
