Employees of NH Hotel Group have raised over €5,000 for the Ronald McDonald. This week, one of the initiators of the “NH Santa Run for Charity” put a heart into families with sick children on behalf of all participants. She handed over the voucher of over €5,000 for the Ronald McDonald children’s funds to Nancy Haanappel, manager of the house in Leiden.
Virtual Christmas run for charity
The ‘NH Santa Run for Charity’ is a virtual running and walking race for charity, an initiative of NH employees during the Christmas season. Participants sought out their own sponsors to raise money for the local Ronald McDonald Children’s Fund. Using #NHSantaRun, they challenged other colleagues on social media and shared race results. A prize was also awarded to the most original Christmas outfit. With the raised amount of over €5,000, of which €2,588.98 is spent in the Netherlands, the foundation can pay for 83 overnight stays for families with seriously ill children undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Togetherness and movement in times of social distance
Christmas is traditionally the time to come together. Especially in these times of (social) distance, it is extra important to ensure a sense of belonging. The virtual coming together of the employees for a common good cause strengthened the bond with each other. Exercise in the outdoors is a form of relaxation. A healthy lifestyle is, now more than ever, of great importance to strengthen resistance and mental and physical resilience.
