The well-known leisure & conference hotel De Beyaerd will be acquired by EHM Group as of June 1. The acquisition allows the entrepreneurs to pick up where they left off with the sale of Apollo Hotels in 2018.
“A welcome reunion,” is how Bas Tolmeijer of EHM Group calls the acquisition of De Beyaerd. “We always thought it was a beautiful place: truly a prime location on the Veluwe to fall in love with. When it became known that the current owners intended to divest it, we didn’t hesitate for a moment and the purchase was quickly finalized.”
Built in 1994, Hotel De Beyaerd offers 91 comfortable rooms, 11 banqueting & conference rooms for up to 350 people, a meeting villa, a bar, a restaurant and excellent leisure facilities such as sauna, fitness and an outdoor pool. The 4-hectare site is also home to the Veluwe Events outdoor center.
Alexander Kluit, Managing Director of Leonardo & Apollo Hotels Benelux, is delighted with his successors: “When you have put your heart and soul into a company for so long, you want to be sure that the company and of course the employees are in good hands. I am convinced that with EHM Group the passion will continue successfully.” According to him, the sale fits with the chain’s strategy, which focuses in the Benelux on growth and the operation of city hotels under the Leonardo & Apollo brands.
EHM Group has a special outlook on the future of Hotel De Beyaerd. Bas Tolmeijer: “Of course the plans still need to take shape, but we mainly want to invest in increasing the culinary quality, wellness and slowing down. The emphasis will be on a concept with strong appeal for the leisure market.” The acquisition underscores the vision of operating striking hospitality properties, each with its own unique character. According to Tolmeijer, there are more developments and acquisitions in the pipeline: “Together with our investment arm Hera HRI, we are working on further growth of the company and will expand our portfolio with great companies and participations.”
