Relais & Châteaux Al Moudira Hotel, Luxor, Egypt
A notable addition is the Relais & Châteaux Al Moudira Hotel in Luxor, Egypt. Located on a sprawling estate along the Nile, the hotel offers a unique blend of guesthouse and palace, with 56 rooms decorated with Middle Eastern furnishings. The property reflects the vision of its original owner, Zeina Abou Kheir, and has been expanded and upgraded under new ownership. The cuisine emphasizes fresh, local ingredients and the property works with artisans and empowers women through initiatives such as Threads of Hope.
Relais & Châteaux Cap Maison Resort & Spa, Cap Estate, St. Lucia
Another exciting addition is the Relais & Châteaux Cap Maison Resort & Spa in Cap Estate, St. Lucia. Nestled in tropical gardens with stunning ocean views, the resort features 49 rooms, including suites with private pools. The Cliff at Cap, the resort’s restaurant, offers inventive French-Caribbean fusion cuisine using seasonal, locally grown ingredients.
Relais & Châteaux Château de la Gaude, Aix-en-Provence, France
In Aix-en-Provence, France, the Relais & Châteaux Château de la Gaude embodies the Provencal art of living. The 18th-century country house is surrounded by formal gardens and its restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Le Art, celebrate authentic Provencal and Japanese cuisines. The building also serves as an artist residence, exhibiting works by contemporary artists such as Philippe Pasqua.
Relais & Châteaux Fogo Island Inn, Newfoundland, Canada
In Newfoundland, Canada, the Relais & Châteaux Fogo Island Inn stands as a regenerative model in a unique and pristine environment. Built according to the principles of sustainability, the inn offers guests the opportunity to reconnect with nature through adventure activities and cultural experiences. The architecture, designed by Todd Saunders, and chef Timothy Charles’ cuisine reflect a commitment to local and seasonal elements.
Relais & Châteaux Palazzo Ripetta, Rome, Italy
In Rome, Italy, the Relais & Châteaux Palazzo Ripetta is a historic building that underwent a complete renovation in 2023. Owned by the same family since the 1960s, the hotel showcases the history of the Eternal City through a collection of ancient and contemporary art. San Baylon, the casual dining restaurant, is a temple to Italian taste. With a refined touch, chef Marco Ciccotelli serves modern interpretations of Roman gastronomy.
Portugal welcomes two new hotels: Relais & Châteaux L’AND Vineyards in Montemor-o-Novo and Relais & Châteaux Valverde Santar Hotel & Spa in Santar.
L’AND Vineyards, located in the Alentejo, less than an hour’s drive from Lisbon, features contemporary design, organic vineyards in which you will find an outdoor swimming pool with infinity and a Vinotherapy Spa. Valverde Santar, a 17th-century country house, offers a rural retreat in the Dão wine region, with an emphasis on enology, art, gastronomy and local products.
Further afield in Portugal, the Relais & Châteaux Valverde Santar Hotel & Spa, Santar is in the remote Dão wine region, just an hour from Porto. The estate, owned by the same owners as Valverde in Lisbon and partly still owned by the royal family, has reopened after a four-year renovation. The 17th-century country house offers opulent décor with antique furnishings and artwork. Chef Luis Almeida brings modern culinary creations inspired by local recipes, with an emphasis on natural and seasonal ingredients. Valverde Santar is an ideal destination for a rustic, culturally rich and gastronomic escape, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
