Transavia has launched a great destination, ideal for MICE. This week the airline flew from Amsterdam to Granada in Spain for the first time, on Monday. From the end of September, flights will take place twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.
Passengers on the first flight were brought into Spanish atmosphere by flamenco dancers before the flight. They were also treated to a delicious sangria. Flamenco is part of Spanish culture and has its origins in the region of Andalusia, where Granada is located. The dance has been recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site since 2010.
Before the flight, Marcel de Nooijer, CEO of Transavia, and President of the Provincial Council of Granada, Francisco Rodriguez, symbolically cut a ribbon together to officially open the new route.
Marcel de Nooijer: “We are an airline. And that means that we want to continue to connect. To be able to continue to do that in the future, we have chosen to renew our entire fleet in the coming years to be cleaner, quieter and more economical. We look to the future with confidence and will also make the new destination Granada a great success.”
Francisco Rodriquez: “We are very happy with this new route that connects the unique province of Granada with the Netherlands. This offers an opportunity to strengthen ties and create new synergies. I hereby invite everyone to get to know and feel the province of Granada. A thousand and one experiences to enjoy a lively Granada”.
Granada has an impressive architecture with Moorish influences. The city is known for the palace complex Alhambra and the winding streets of the Albaicín district. Granada is also a good base for exploring the region around the city. Perhaps less well-known, but certainly worth it is that the Sierra Nevada is a popular ski resort. The ski area has 107 kilometers of slopes.
