Accor: franchise agreement for first TRIBE hotel in the Netherlands and new Mercure hotel

Accor has signed a franchise agreement with WIN Hotels for the arrival of the first ever TRIBE hotel and a Mercure hotel in Amsterdam. The hotels are located in two towers of the newly developed area ‘Gare du Nord’ in Amsterdam-North, next to metro station Noord (Noord/Zuidlijn). TRIBE – an entirely new brand of the Accor hotel group – is setting foot on Dutch soil for the first time. The four-star hotel will have as many as 192 rooms and suites and a restaurant. The newly opened four-star Mercure hotel has 110 rooms and a restaurant. Both hotels will open their doors in the summer of 2021.

For the first time, a TRIBE hotel opens in the Netherlands, Amsterdam. TRIBE is a new and fast-growing brand of Accor in the mid-range segment. The brand aims to surprise and inspire travelers with an original, diverse and carefully curated offering that focuses more on style than price, making it a leader in the affordable luxury sector of designer hotels. The first TRIBE hotel opened its doors in Perth, Australia. Accor’s successful refreshing formula will be rolled out globally in the coming years. In addition to Amsterdam, openings are planned in such cities as: Warsaw, London, Glasgow, Orleans, Melbourne, Bucharest, New York, Tallinn, Phnom Penh, Hong Kong and Bali. The goal is to add 150 TRIBE hotels to Accor’s portfolio worldwide within five years. In Europe, 50 TRIBE hotels are planned. TRIBE is known for its sophisticated look with a modern and artistic interior. The rooms are stylishly decorated with unique designer furniture, which also appeals to a younger audience. Streamlined designs are combined with the latest technology. The comfortable common areas are user-friendly and have a homely atmosphere. The spaces serve as creative workspaces, exhibition space, entertainment or meeting spaces for both travelers and people from the area.

From the music selection to the choice of coffee roasters of local coffee, at TRIBE nothing happens by chance. The choice of dining options varies throughout the day to ensure it is always fresh and authentic: a coffee bar during the day becomes a cocktail bar in the evening and a to-go service available all day with a simple menu of homemade specialties. TRIBE collaborates with several well-known local designers. The modern style is complemented by artfully designed pieces created by emerging talented artists and designers – not only on the walls, but also for the choice of chairs, upholstery and lighting. Each piece is carefully selected with comfort and style in mind.

The state-of-the-art ‘Gare du Nord’ project where both the new Mercure hotel and the TRIBE hotel will be located is being developed by AM and Blauwhoed. The project consists of two towers and is part of the area development around the starting point of the North/South line in Amsterdam-North. In addition to the two hotels, 361 residential apartments spread over the two towers will also be realized. The project has a unique location directly at the Noord metro station of the recently opened Noord/Zuidlijn. Which takes travelers to the center of the city in a matter of minutes. Both hotels cater to business and leisure guests as well as the neighborhood. Thomas Dubaere, COO Accor Northern Europe, says: “We have been determined to bring TRIBE to Amsterdam since Accor launched the brand last year. TRIBE is a new kind of hotel, a lifestyle hotel brand that focuses on modern travelers and promises to shake up today’s hotel market. Amsterdam is a perfect fit for the brand and we are delighted to partner with WIN Hotels to bring this design-led hotel experience to the Netherlands. This signing of a TRIBE and a Mercure hotel strengthens our partnership and expands our joint portfolio to six hotels in Amsterdam. These acquisitions represent continued confidence in the market and we look forward to opening these hotels in what we expect will be a prosperous 2021,” said Dubaere.

Patrick Kerkhoven, COO WIN Hotels on the cooperation with Accor: “We can’t wait to welcome the first guests in both hotels. It will be a wonderful challenge to launch the first hotel of the TRIBE brand in the Netherlands alongside the renowned Mercure brand. This concept brings together design and affordable luxury with a creative feel. As a result, in addition to our business and leisure guests, we will also be attracting many people from the local area. The location of both hotels is excellent. The area is in full development. The project developers want to give a quality impulse to Amsterdam North with ‘Gare du Nord’. The arrival of the two hotels will contribute to this. Because of its location right next to North Station, future guests will be able to reach the city center within four minutes”.
