Airbnb is going to focus more explicitly on luxury travel. Airbnb Luxe is the name of the new service. Airbnb Luxe provides access to unique and spectacular properties with dedicated travel consultants to customize experiences. Of course, it can also be useful for groups.
With homes that are destinations in themselves, travelers can stay in incredible places, including award-winning homes in New Zealand and South Africa, castles in France and breathtaking historic villas in Tuscany. Literary fans can explore on the beach at The Fleming Villa in Jamaica where Ian Fleming found inspiration for his famous spy novels. Others may prefer complete privacy and exclusivity by booking an entire island with its own self-proclaimed time zone. You can do this on the incredible private atoll in French Polynesia, Nukutepipi, curated by Guy Laliberte, founder of Cirque du Soleil and Lune Rouge.
More than 2,000 luxury accommodations
Airbnb Luxe is built on the luxury travel expertise Airbnb gained when it acquired Luxury Retreats in 2017. This new booking option launches with more than 2,000 carefully chosen homes around the world, each undergoing rigorous evaluation based on more than 300 criteria to meet standards in both design and function. This includes elevated design standards; from premium materials and finishes to spaces suitable for groups including the right number of bathrooms to match each bedroom.
“Today’s luxury traveler craves more than just high-end accommodations; they seek transformation and experiences that make them feel more connected to each other and to their destination, ” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder, CEO and Head of Community.
Dedicated travel consultant
When an Airbnb Luxury stay is booked, a dedicated travel consultant is also on hand to ensure that the stay is perfectly tailored to the unique needs of the traveler. This includes coordinating locally tailored experiences and activities, and arranging a wide range of services. From childcare to private chefs to massage therapists to personal training sessions in your own private gym.
Urban luxury
In addition to chateaux and chalets, Airbnb Luxe will also open the door to spectacular homes to stay in larger cities. In London, for example, you’ll stay in a beautiful Kensington oasis or a Sloane Square penthouse; and in Los Angeles at this exceptional French estate. This year, insane homes will be added in at least 12 other cities, including Milan, Paris and Austin.
Increasing demand for luxury travel
The launch of Airbnb Luxe also helps meet the increasing demand from Airbnb guests for luxury accommodations and experiences. Thus, over the years, the number of bookings worth at least $1,000 per night increased. This growing interest in luxury travel on Airbnb is consistent with general trends. For example, analysts believe that the luxury market is worth more than $200 billion and will continue to grow in the coming years.
