Deutsche Bahn: faster train Amsterdam-Berlin

Deutsche Bahn is launching a new fast train connection between Amsterdam and Berlin. The new train, named ECx, will begin operating in December 2023.

The ECx covers the distance between the two capitals about 30 minutes faster. The new travel time will be 5 hours and 50 minutes.
Deutsche Bahn presented the new train in Berlin on Wednesday. The train will have a lowered floor, which will make boarding and alighting easier. There will also be more room for luggage.
The first 23 trainsets have already been ordered from Spanish train builder Talgo. The ECx will be used alongside current ICE and IC trains starting in 2023. The 23 trainsets, which will also be used on other routes in Germany, involve an investment of 550 million euros. Deutsche Bahn plans to order a total of 100 such trainsets. These should eventually replace the old EC trains. (Photo: Deutsche Bahn).
