Emirates sets eyes on India with codeshare SpiceJet

After Qatar Airways recently signed a codeshare with India’s Indigo, Emirates now has better access to the country. Emirates has signed a codeshare and interline agreement with SpiceJet. This will give travelers to and from India access to a larger and stronger route network, Emirates says.

This is the first codeshare agreement signed by SpiceJet. Starting in early 2020, travelers to India will be able to choose from many more flight options on both airlines’ routes: Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Cochin and Delhi.
Emirates passengers can transfer in Dubai to direct flights to Amritsar, Calicut, Mangalore, Madurai, Jaipur and Pune, routes flown by SpiceJet.

The codeshare agreement means travelers from around the world can book a ticket to one of Emirates’ nine destinations in India, then transfer to one of 172 domestic flights that are part of SpiceJet’s network.
SpiceJet’s domestic network includes destinations such as Goa, Dehradun, Dharamshala, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Guwahatti, Pondicherry, Port Blair, Shirdi, Tirupati, Udaipur and Varanasi.
The first phase of the interline agreement will start on November 25 for flights starting December 15, 2019.
