France: number 3 convention destination in ICCA 2019 rankings

The ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) has announced its ranking of 2019 convention destinations. France surpasses Spain and it this time and is in third place.

France, the number 3 conference destination in the world
While the United States and Germany occupy the top two spots in terms of country rankings, respectively, France moved up one spot to third in 2019, ahead of Spain and the United Kingdom. Together, the 30 French cities in the ranking organized a total of 595 congresses that met the ICCA criteria (compared to 606 in 2018).

Paris, still in first place
Paris maintained its leading position with a total of 237 congresses held in the city in 2019 (compared to 216 in 2018). The French capital is followed by Lisbon (which climbed spectacularly from 7 to 2 in the rankings).

Covid-19
These encouraging results for 2019 confirm France’s major role in the international convention sector. Results for 2020 will naturally be influenced by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, as the crisis has slowed the professional events industry worldwide.

Every player in the professional meetings and events sector in France is fully committed (especially in close collaboration with Atout France) to ensuring that conditions allow for the relaunch of this sector as soon as possible, so that international congresses can once again be organized in the country.
