Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American has opened

Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American opened its doors on June 12, 2020. With 173 rooms, Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American, located on Leidseplein, is housed in one of the city’s most famous Art Nouveau buildings, formerly the American Hotel. The historic 1903 building has been renovated by interior designer Feran Thomassen while retaining its historic decorative elements, such as the stained glass windows and chiaroscuro paintings.

The walls of the hotel are also adorned with signature Hard Rock memorabilia, including treasured possessions of artists such as Elton John, Slash and John Lennon. The hotel opens in compliance with all local Covid19 measures, government guidelines and the new SAFE + SOUND protocol of the international Hard Rock organization. ‘Amsterdam is an entertainment hotspot with an incredible atmosphere, and the perfect place to welcome a Hard Rock Hotel’ said Dale Hipsh, Senior Vice President – Hotels. ‘We are delighted to see our newest hotel open in such an iconic city with a strong musical background, bringing Hard Rock hospitality to one of Amsterdam’s most vibrant locations.’

The legendary Café Americain, a Cultural Heritage Site, remains unchanged. Combining a classic interior with contemporary gastronomy, the café puts a modern spin on beloved, classic dishes using Dutch ingredients and locally sourced products. Next door to the Café is Bar Americain: the iconic hotel bar that has welcomed an array of famous artists over the years, reflected in the celebrity photos that adorn the walls. Guests enjoy Dutch bitterballen and a craft cocktail on the terrace, or sip a drink in the hotel lobby or the GMT +1 next door. The GMT +1 can be closed off to serve as a hall for events, as can the Mata Hideaway – a hidden meeting space inspired by the Marrakesh Express.

Together, the two spaces offer more than 230 square feet of meeting space for social events and corporate meetings. ‘For us, opening Holland’s first Hard Rock Hotel at this historic site feels like a perfect match,’ said Léon Dijkstra, CEO of Eden Hotels. ‘The hotel has a very rich music history and is close to all the iconic venues Amsterdam has to offer. As Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American, we let music and culture live on in a place where artists have come together for decades.’
