Hotel Merici Sittard to Accor’s MGallery

Black Label Hotels’ Hotel Merici Sittard will become part of Accor’s MGallery Hotel Collection effective April 1, 2021. The four-star hotel is located in the former convent of the Ursuline Sisters on the Old Market in the center of Sittard. The franchise partner is the current operator, Black Label Hotels of Martin Hendricks. After the rebranding, the doors of Merici Hotel Sittard – MGallery will officially open in the spring of 2021.

With this rebranding, Hotel Merici Sittard joins one of the most prestigious premium brands in the world. In the Netherlands, the INK Hotel in Amsterdam also falls under the MGallery Hotel Collection. MGallery is known for its global collection of boutique hotels with their own authentic stories. The hotels are often located in special places and each tells a unique story inspired by the destination.

Martin Hendricks, owner of Black Label Hospitality about the upcoming cooperation with Accor and MGallery: “From the first contact it was clear that not only the way of working with Accor is in line with that of Black Label Hotels. There was also the well-known ‘click’. This is much more difficult to describe and understand, as it goes beyond the measurable business KPIs. In our regional market, which is strongly business-dominated and is still developing in the leisure sector, we were looking for a partner that is strong in business. Our choice fell on Accor. And with a brand that also fits well with the leisure market and the appearance of our product of our hotel in Sittard, MGallery”.

Cristina De Oliveira Frewen, Senior Vice President Franchise Operations Accor on the announced rebranding: ” Our new partnership with Black Label Hospitality shows our confidence that the hospitality industry will continue to grow despite the difficult times we are currently experiencing globally. The strength of our brand portfolio, the excellence of our teams and the dedication of our great partners will enable our industry to recover and come back stronger. We cannot wait to welcome our first guests next spring and offer them unforgettable authentic experiences together with Martin and his team at Merici Hotel Sittard – MGallery.

Hotel Merici

Hotel Merici is a characteristic four-star hotel in a former monastery. The name MERICI comes from Angela de Merici, foundress of the Ursuline Order, the monastic order that educated girls in the hotel’s adjacent buildings between 1843 and 1946. This extraordinary hotel was significantly expanded to 86 rooms in 2020. For the business market, the hotel offers additional facilities, such as two spacious meeting rooms. In addition to a bar/lounge and terrace, the hotel has its own indoor restaurant where, in July of this year, the young, highly ambitious kitchen brigade led by Joël Reintjens started.
