Intercontinental opens in Barcelona

IHG Hotels and Resorts is bringing the Intercontinental brand to Barcelona this summer, with a hotel in the city’s Montjuic neighborhood.

This is the brand’s second hotel in Spain, with a property currently open in Madrid. Located on the site of the former Crowne Plaza Barcelona, the hotel is undergoing a complete transformation.

Intercontinental Barcelona will offer 273 rooms and 18 suites, along with three restaurants and bars, one of which will be headed by a Michelin-starred chef. There will also be a 1,200-square-foot spa and a “signature Club Intercontinental experience.”

The hotel will also offer more than 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including 18 meeting rooms with a capacity of 1,200 people. Services include interactive experiences such as augmented reality, virtual reality and video mapping.

In addition, the hotel will receive biosphere certification upon opening to ensure it meets a range of international sustainability requirements.
