KLM further launches European network

KLM is slowly restarting its European network as of today. The airline will begin flying daily to seven additional destinations that had been temporarily suspended due to the coronavirus and resulting travel restrictions.

In addition, KLM is making the wearing of face protection on board mandatory on flights throughout the KLM network as of May 11.
The much-reduced European network is set up so that a maximum number of flights connect to the intercontinental network. So, little by little, “renewed” destinations are being added, KLM reports on its website.

Per week, this can still change. This depends on the actions of the various authorities. The planned number of flights now in May is 15 percent compared to the period before the coronavirus outbreak. A significant proportion of intercontinental flights are still operated as ‘cargo only’.

Effective May 4, 2020, KLM will restart operations to the following destinations (one flight daily, seven days a week): Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Milan, Budapest, Prague, Warsaw and Helsinki. The flights are operated with an Embraer. Current flight information can be found at klm.com or in the KLM app.

In parallel with the start-up of the KLM network, the wearing of face protection (mouth masks) on board and at boarding will become mandatory as of May 11 across the entire KLM network. The basic principle here is that passengers provide their own face protection.
