During the Business Traveler Mice Fair, Marijke Vink received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her many years of dedication to the MICE industry from TJ van Apeldoorn (co-owner TRAVel Media), after she was addressed by René Klawer (CEO De Reisspecialisten Groep & GI Travel).
In a first reaction, Vink informed those present that he was very pleasantly surprised. “This was the last thing I expected. I feel very honored and I think it is very beautiful and sweet. Especially because I retired in corona time and of course received e-mails and phone calls, but I haven’t been able to say goodbye to anyone. I really enjoyed meeting everyone here again. Today it felt like coming home after such a long period of lockdown.’ With the award and a Miss Mice sash, Vink received overwhelming applause.
‘I am very happy and proud that you can receive this award’, says René Klawer, who reminded those present that exactly ten years ago, Vink was the first to receive the award for Mice Personality of the Year. Vink retired as director at GI Travel at the end of 2020 after 23 years, but is still active as an ambassador for the Reisspecialisten Groep and GI Travel.
