Booking via mobile devices among Dutch people is increasing. Over 22 percent of bookings in the Netherlands are made via cell phone or tablet, according to research by marketing performance agency Criteo. In it, booking via tablet is more popular than smartphone.
The number of bookings made through an app is growing worldwide. Although the Dutchman appears to be more mobile oriented than the Belgian or German. Research results from the Travel Flash Report show that globally, mainly many hotels (33 percent) and apartments (32 percent) are booked by mobile device. This is followed by package holidays, which are purchased by consumers via a tablet or smartphone at 24 percent. Train tickets (15 percent) and airline tickets (18 percent) are the least often purchased through an app.
‘The growth in the number of bookings made from an app is striking,’ says Piet-Hein Kerkhof, managing director Benelux and Nordics at Criteo. “Advertisers who invested in in-app tracking and ads recently saw a sharp increase in bookings.
