Historic downtown Goude gets a new hotel/ It is the metamorphosis of the old Orphanage (1599) in Gouda into Boutique Hotel WSHS; now still in full swing, soon to be a stylish retreat with international allure. With much love, the monument has been restored to its full glory. The WSHS – affiliated with Relais & Châteaux – will open in the spring of 2021.

The enterprising couple Sharon and Lennart van Gastel, the beating heart behind WSHS, are therefore opening not only a hotel, but also a restaurant,a cocktail barand a number of spectacular reception areas; all under one roof. Gastronomic enjoyment at impeccable white table linen takes place in casual fine dining restaurant.
The restaurant stands for constant work, the use of top products, generosityand proper value for money. The kitchen is buzzing, the fire is crackling and the staff‘ s enthusiasm is contagious. You’re not sitting on your neighbor’s lap here, there’s air! A restaurant at this level, with this set-up, has a story. There is told about the history, a new wine region or a fun detail – with the dishes and throughout the menu. There is a unity that speaks here. Andbefore you know it, the entire table is filled with sophisticated dishes made from local specialties, each with its own story. Simpel, but promising; het makes you curious about what’s to come.
Before you go to sleep, stroll by COCO, the gracious cocktail bar across the rustic courtyard. This courtyard is the heart of the WSHS. From here you walk from one story into another and all the rooms can be accessed. French doors, a pergola dotted with flowers and an attractive terrace – above all, it is enchantingly beautiful. The Breakfast Bar
The next day, make your way to the Regent’s Room, by far the most beautiful space in the hotel. Here the regents of the 16th century see to it that you are pampered. Because a full breakfast is part of a blissful start to the morning and provides plenty of energy for the rest of the day.
Hysterically historical
The building is home to a wealth of stories and this is reflected in the interior – in a very contemporary and quirky way. Interior designer Judith van Mourik, among other things known for the interior of Parc Broekhuizen, flawlessly combines luxury and design with various historical gems such as Gouds Plateel and thus manages to create asurprisingly eclectic whole. Ablack and white plaid matcht perfect with popping walls and that one striking art object combines tastefully with the brass coffee bar. The 25 hotel rooms, ranging from spacious family rooms to romantic getaways, all have their own wow factor and guarantee an unforgettable time.
