Successful test of IATA Travel Pass app

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has successfully conducted the first trial of the IATA Travel Pass app. The first traveler to use this “medical document” arrived at Heathrow after traveling on Singapore Airlines. The IATA Travel Pass app should facilitate free travel between countries by storing medical data. It is one of the means by which air traffic is to be restored.

The IATA pass informs the traveler of flight details, travel restrictions and requirements and stores verified test results and confirmation that they meet all travel requirements to facilitate quick and easy travel.

“The successful implementation of IATA Travel Pass in this trial with Singapore Airlines passengers demonstrates that technology can safely, easily and efficiently help travelers and governments manage travel health data. The significance of this for the reboot of international aviation cannot be overemphasized “, said Alexandre de Juniac, Director General and CEO of IATA.

Global Standards

In order to gain maximum benefit from the IATA Travel Pass and avoid confusion and inconvenience for passengers, the standardization of test or vaccination certificates and their acceptance by the authorities is crucial. A recent IATA survey of travelers found that 89% agree with the need for global standards and 80% would like to use a mobile app to manage their travel data.
