The Golden Rock Resort is located on St. Eustatius, a special municipality of the Netherlands. This is the only luxury eco-resort on the island and is celebrating its 2nd anniversary recently. The resort announces the appointment of Anthony Reid as General Manager. Reid’s expertise in infrastructure, conservation and sustainable agriculture adds tremendous value to the sustainable policy of the Golden Rock Resort and the rich flora and fauna on the property.
The resort is located at the foot of the dormant Quill volcano and is characterized by its landscaped architecture. The Golden Rock Resort has a total of 70 rooms, varying from double rooms, villa suites and detached bungalows. Everywhere guests have views of the tropical gardens, the Quill and the Atlantic Ocean. More than 130,000 different trees, plants and flowers have been planted and provide a green and colorful oasis around the entire resort. The 6,000 m2 greenhouse is a unique place on the site and provides the 2 restaurants with daily fresh products. In early 2024, the resort will open a new PADI Dive Center and Dive School called Statia Divers.
“I am happy to join the team and continue to serve the community of Statia and our international guests.” said Anthony Reid, General Manager of Golden Rock Resort. “The resort is a catalyst for economic development and community change, while preserving the island’s rich cultural heritage and wildlife. I have always admired the values of Golden Rock Resort and would like to contribute to its future.”
An agronomic engineer with a master’s degree in business management, Reids began his career at the Fair Economic Development Program (FED program) in Suriname, where he taught new agricultural techniques to the Maroons living in the rainforest. In 2015, Reid migrated to St. Eustatius to lead the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries before being appointed director of the Directorate of Economy, Nature and Infrastructure in 2017. Reid was also appointed as the European Union’s territorial authorizing officer for EU development projects on St. Eustatius.
Golden Rock Resort is pleased with the arrival of Reid. The combination of his management skills and local experience and knowledge make Reid a General Manager who takes a fresh look at the helm of Statia’s only eco-resort. Under his leadership, the resort will continue to deliver the highest level of service and create unforgettable experiences for guests.
